The Club organises five concerts each winter on Saturday evenings between October and March. The recitals aim to draw on a wide repertoire from early music, through to 20th century and occasional new works and to present well-known and well-loved pieces alongside the less familiar. The performers are outstanding artists, often early in their careers, who take great pleasure in being able to engage with their audiences in a less formal setting than a concert hall. From time to time the Club arranges coach trips to other musical events such as the opera. The Club is a registered Charity and is a member of Making Music and of the Chiltern Arts Forum. CHILTERN BRANCH : To promote the art and craft of painting on silk through demonstrations and practical sessions using various techniques.
Great Missenden. HP16 0AL
We have a monthly ‘theme’, and some of the subjects so far explored are monoprinting onto silk, working with tjantings and wax, hidden gutta lines, use of feathers, using the Japanese hirite/shinshi frame, making silk covered books and box lids, with many more ideas for future meetings. We hold several all-day workshops each year and hope to run our own exhibitions with demonstrations, and promote the sale of our work.
THE VISUAL IMAGES GROUP
The Visual Images Group is an alliance of more than 400 artists and crafts people who live and work in Buckinghamshire and on its borders.
Each year, for two weeks in June, throughout the County artists open their studios to the public or hold exhibitions. Some demonstrate their work, some encourage visitors to have a go with art materials in their own studios and artists are always on hand to discuss their work or other matters of artistic interest. A great event for artists and interested visitors. |
