          01296 625825

The whole of Bernwood Forest was designated a Forest Nature Reserve in 1981 and a Site of Special Scientific Interest, because of its richness as a butterfly habitat.

Extensive forest paths lead walkers through vast areas of mixed coniferous and broadleaf woodland. Path side vegetation management has provided the favoured habitats for butterflies and other flora and fauna. Follow the yellow waymarked path on an hour and a half walk around the forest to discover the variety of habitats to be found.

The Wildlife Hospital Trust, is pleased to announce the opening of our new Visitor Centre. Set in the peaceful grounds of Tiggywinkles we have developed an outdoor educational walk with the chance of meeting some of our permanent residents.

As more people are becoming aware of the wildlife around them and the problems they can get themselves into, the number of casualties arriving at our door is escalating. We are therefore delighted that we now have somewhere that the general public can wander around and learn about the specialist wildlife care available only at Tiggywinkles. With the aid of education boards, CCTV and a glimpse at some of our permanent disabled residents, we hope to teach others how to preserve British Wildlife for years to come.
