NEW CAMPAIGN LAUNCHED ON 15TH JANUARY 2008

Four out of Five people who own smoke alarms are risking their safety by not checking them often enough.

FIRE SAFETY ADVICE : Let Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service carry out a free safety check on your home to help you minimise the risk of a fire. We will fit free 10-year smoke alarms where necessary. Do you have working some alarms on each floor of your home? Have you and your family talked about how to get out safely in the event of a fire?

If you have answered "No" to either of these questions, we can help make you safer. Please don't put this off - do something about it now!.  Ring our Community Safety team on 01296 744477 or email cs@bucksfire.gov.uk to arrange your free safety check.

NATIONAL BLOOD SERVICE

COMPLETE LIST OF LOCATIONS AND DATES FOR DONATIONS OF BLOOD

Every day new medical treatments are being developed and more operations are being carried out. So not surprisingly, we constantly need donations for these vital procedures. About 2.1 million a year, to be exact.

And it's not as if it's a difficult thing to do. When you show up, we'll ask a few questions about your health and lifestyle (just to make sure you haven't been exposed to anything infectious). We'll take a drop of blood from your finger to make sure you're not anaemic. And then we'll take your blood donation which is just under a pint. This should take about 10 minutes.

And most people don't feel a thing. Apart from a terrific sense of well-being that they've helped save a life, that is.
